Pomeroy Elementary School New Multipurpose Bldg

Since 1960, Pomeroy Elementary School utilized an existing 3,800-square-foot area for the multipurpose room, which is part of a larger building containing classrooms and restrooms, intended for about 300 students.  The school now has over 700 students.  Inside the multipurpose room, the existing stage utilized was very tiny.  When used for performances the school couldn’t even fit an entire class on the stage.  The school needed an upgrade, and in June of 2012 Milpitas voters passed the $95-million general obligation bond that funded a new multipurpose building for Pomeroy.

The new 6,000sf single-story building is a pre-fabricated modular building.  The new building is equipped with a raised stage that can fit an entire class with nice lighting and a sound system.  The building also includes a warming kitchen and a speed line to quickly serve food to the students.  ACEE worked closely with the Architect and Milpitas district on the district standards and the usage of the building.  The overall construction for this project was smooth with less than 10 RFIs.  The project total change order (Architectural, Civil, and Electrical) was around 1%.  The design team and the construction manager did a great job.
